As the snow melts and temperatures rise, it's time to prepare your lawn for the growing season. Here are our top tips for a healthy, lush lawn this spring.
1. Clean Up Debris
Remove leaves, branches, and any debris that accumulated over winter. This allows sunlight to reach the grass and prevents mold.
2. Aerate Your Soil
Compaction from winter can suffocate your grassroots. Aeration allows water, air, and nutrients to penetrate deep into the soil.
3. Apply Pre-Emergent Weed Control
Stop weeds before they start! Early spring is the best time to apply pre-emergent herbicides to prevent crabgrass and other weeds.
4. Fertilize
Give your lawn the nutrients it needs with a slow-release fertilizer. Look for one with nitrogen for healthy green growth.
5. Overseed Bare Spots
Fill in any thin or bare areas with fresh grass seed. Spring is ideal for cool-season grasses in our area.
